Raku and other fine art

Raku ware is a type of Japanese pottery traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Unlike traditional pottery, these are fired at a lower temperature and involve removing the pot from the kiln at the height of the firing process. This art form was championed by tea masters who appreciated the unpretentiousness of the wares. These types of dishes do not hold water and are not food safe.
